SHAWNEE, Okla. -- NOC Tonkawa scored five runs in the second inning then held off Rose State 5-3 on Wednesday at the South Central District Tournament in Shawnee.
The Mavs (30-25) now face Eastern (39-14) Thursday at 1 p.m.
Adisyn Peetoom (14-11) earned the win allowing one earned run over over four innings. Kaidince Calvert earned the save, her first of the year, allowing one unearned run over three innings.
In the five run second, Kailey Rich and Hailey Schutz opened the inning with one out singles. Faith Williams bunt single scored Rich and NOC led 1-0.
Jadison Ackerman also had a bunt single scoring Schutz and NOC led 2-0.
Later in the innings, Riley Westmoreland walked scoring Ackerman and NOC led 3-0.
Caitlin Cooper then singled scoring Ackerman and Breeanna Gomez and NOC led 5-0.
Rose State score singled runs in the 3rd, 4th, and 6th but Calvert slammed the door in the 7th sealing the 5-3 win.
Cooper, Schutz, and Ackerman had two hits each for the Mavs.
