Xon Williams, Jaydon Awe, and Caison Cole combined for 62 points in an 84-77 win over Redlands Thursday night at Foster-Piper Fieldhouse.
The Mavs (11-8) improved to 1-4 in conference while Redlands (8-12) fell to 2-4 in league play.
"The guys executed at a high level and made plays when it mattered," said coach Brandon Gossett. "Jaydon Awe was huge scoring 16 points in a seven minute span late in the game. He's really coming into his own. We are showing improvements and have to keep moving forward."
The Mavs trailed Redlands 70-68 with 3:52 left and outscored the Cougars 16-7 the rest of the way.
Trailing 72-71 with 3:20 left, the Mavs tied the game at 72-72 on a Dorian Johnson free throw and then Awe scored seven straight NOC points to give NOC a 79-73 lead. Redlands cut NOC's lead to 80-77 and then DJ Howell and Cole hit four straight free throws to give the Mavs an 84-77 win,
Awe led the Mavs with seven rebounds and six assists.
NOC is at Connors Monday night at 7:30 p.m.
