ENID, Oklahoma -- The NOC Tonkawa Mavs battled back from a 10 point halftime deficit but fell just short at NOC Enid 64-57 Tuesday night.
The Mavs (10-8) fell to 0-4 in conference while NOC Enid (14-5) improved to 3-2.
NOC Tonkawa rallied from a 36-26 halftime deficit tying Tuesday's game at 40-40 with 9:55 left.
In the second half, NOC Enid expanded leads to 48-40 but saw the Mavs rally to 48-46 and then built a 54-46 lead only to see the Mavs battle back to 54-52.
NOC Enid then had one more burst building a 61-52 lead with :58.2, too much for the Mavs to overcome.
Jaydon Awe led the Mavs with 17, the only Maverick to reach double figures. Xon Williams and MJ Miller had eight points each for NOC. Awe had 15 rebounds while Miller added seven rebounds and five assists.
The Mavs shot 43% from the floor but just 18% from 3-point range.
NOC hosts Redlands Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Foster-Piper Fieldhouse.
