Western's Keaton Shields banked in a half court buzzer beater Thursday night giving the Pioneers an 83-80 win over the Mavs.

The loss dropped NOC (10-6) to o-2 in conference while Western (12-1) is now 1-0 in conference.

The Mavs led Western 76-70 with 4:36 left before the Pioneers went on a 7-0 run to take a 77-76 lead.

NOC trailed 80-76 but tied the game at 80-80 on late baskets by Williams and MJ Miller setting up Shields' heroics.

Ryan Rodriguez led the Mavs with 14 while Caison Cole and Xon Williamas had 11 each.

Jaydon Awe had 11 rebounds to lead the Mavs, MJ Miller had seven assists.

NOC host Seminole on Jan. 15 at 7:30 p.m.
