EDMOND, Oklahoma -- NOC Tonkawa blasted out to a big halftime lead and coasted past Western (TX) 81-61 at the Mike Mitchell Elite 8 Classic at UCO in Edmond on Monday.

The Mavs (2-0) face Ranger (TX) on Tuesday.

Xon Williams led the Mavs with 15 points in a reserve role.  Caison Cole had 13 and MJ Miller 11.

Miller, Cole, and Dorian Johnson had five rebounds each while Johnson had four assists.

"The guys were locked in on defense tonight and did a great job or trusting each other," said coach Brandon Gossett.  "It was a true team win, with a balanced offensive effort. We are continuing to buy in and growing every game. Excited to see where we can go."

The Mavs shot 47% from the floor and 35% from 3-point range.  NOC shot 66% (23-35) from the line.

NOC travels to Cowley on Nov. 11 in their next game action.
