Lady Mavs lose double overtime thriller to Seminole

Northern Oklahoma College opened conference play Tuesday night losing a 103-102 double overtime thriller to the Seminole Belles at Foster-Piper Fieldhouse in Tonkawa.

Summer Jones hit a jumper from the left baseline as time expired giving Seminole a 103-102 win over the Lady Mavs.

NOC (3-5) had taken a 102-101 lead on a jumper by Taylar Watkins with :49 left in the second overtime.  The lead changed hands four times in the game's final two minutes.

Tahanee Bennell led the Lady Mavs with 32 points while Chelsea Rhoades added 19 and Watkins 15.

Seminole led by as many as 10 in the third quarter before the Lady Mavs rallied.

NOC led the second overtime 97-93 before Seminole rallied to take a 99-97 lead.  Rhoades then hit a 3-pointer to give the Lady Mavs a 100-99 lead before the Belles rallied for the one point win.

"We competed hard to get back in the game," said head coach Greg Krause.  "We need to start the toughness sooner and we need to make smarter decisions relative to game situations."
